About Sports Select
Sports-Select was founded in August 2004 to bring the best in Sports Supplements to mixed martial artists in the UK. Originally trading as Supplement-Select the focus was on sports supplements, however we quickly recognized a pioneering young brand form the USA in TapouT. At the time TapouT was not available anywhere in the UK and MMA was still in it’s relative infancy but we believed in the sport and the brand and after a call with TapouT co-founder Dan “Punkass” Caldwell we negotiated the import of TapouT goods into the UK and Europe. Soon after we got in touch with regional MMA promotion FX3 and arranged a stall at their show selling TapouT merchandise and from there it blew up for Sports-Select and TapouT.
Promoting at MMA shows across the country, (we could be in Liverpool on Saturday, Swansea on Sunday and back in the office on Monday) we expanded our range of MMA clothing and equipment and merchandise to include other new MMA brands including Full Contact Fighter, Punishment Athletic and Sprawl all of which were in high demand from MMA enthusiasts but were until then only available in the USA.
One of the main drivers of success at Sports Select has stemmed from our own frustration of purchasing clothing online, especially from overseas, what to do if the item doesn’t fit? Returning goods to another country can be a real pain, and what’s worse is UK companies charging handling and re stocking fees, then charging to send the replacement to you. By the time you have finished you could have paid for the item twice! At Sports-Select all you pay is the cost of returning the goods, we swap it and re send the alternative for no extra charge! It doesn’t have to be the same item either, if you try something on and decide it doesn’t suit you when you look in the mirror you can swap it for another design no problems!
6 Years later and Sports-Select has had a complete overhaul to improve our customers shopping experience. Bigger and better product images, easier navigation and a faster checkout all designed to make our customer experience as easy, secure and hassle free as possible. Also incorporated in the new website is a powerful new trade interface allowing logged in whole sale customers to purchase at trade prices.
